SPA etiquette: what to bring with you and how to relax comfortably
SPA is about peace and rejuvenation. When everything is organized simply and without fuss, relaxation is more enjoyable for both you and those around you. Here is a quick guide to help you feel confident from the first minute.
What to bring with you
Minimum set:
-
swimsuit/swimsuit
-
slippers for wet areas
-
towel (if your SPA doesn't provide them)
-
elastic band/hairpin to gather hair
-
bottled water
Note: in Shelter Apart Hotel upon check-in, we give guests bathrobe, slippers and towel, so you don't have to take these things with you.
Optional (for comfort):
-
bathrobe or cape (handy between zones and after water)
-
swimming goggles (if you have sensitive eyes)
-
moisturizer or lip balm (skin can become dry after sauna and water)
It is better to leave in the room:
-
jewelry and watches
-
perfumes with a strong aroma (the smell is stronger in warmth)
How to prepare before entering the SPA
-
Don't come after a very heavy meal. It's more comfortable if there is at least an hour between eating and the SPA.
-
Remove makeup if it is heavy. This will allow your skin to breathe more easily and the water will stay clean longer.
-
A few minutes to relax. It's better to come in a little earlier, change clothes and get ready without rushing.
Small rules that make vacations enjoyable for everyone
-
Showering before the pool and jacuzzi is a common hygiene norm.
-
Speak quietly. People in SPAs usually relax, not chat with the whole room.
-
Keep your phone on silent. If you want to take a photo, take it so that other people don't get in the frame.
-
It's safer to wear slippers. The floor can be slippery.
-
In the sauna, people sit on a towel. It's both hygienic and more comfortable.

Sauna without fatigue: a simple and safe rhythm
If you are not used to saunas, it is best to start gently:
-
1st event: 5–8 minutes
-
rest: 10 minutes, water - a few sips
-
2nd event: 8–10 minutes
-
rest: 10 minutes
-
then - according to your well-being
The guideline is simple: you should feel fine. If you feel dizzy, nauseous, have severe weakness, or have a pounding heart, you should go outside, sit down, rest, and drink some water.
Swimming pool and jacuzzi: to make everyone comfortable
-
It's better to use scrubs, masks, and oils in the jacuzzi - this affects the purity of the water.
-
Don't run on a wet floor - this is the most common cause of falls.
-
If you are vacationing with children, constant supervision is important even where it is "shallow."
What to do after SPA
-
Dry yourself and dress warmly, especially in winter (it's easy to get cold after being warm).
-
Drink water or warm tea.
-
If your skin feels dry, apply a light moisturizer.
If you are planning spa in Bukovel, just schedule some “unhurried” time: 60–90 minutes in a warm relaxation area is a great way to restore yourself after a road trip or an active day in the mountains and makes your vacation noticeably more relaxing.
